10 Ways to Eat Smarter

Hello fellow beauties and bloggers! How are you guys today? I hope you are doing well. Today I fell off of my health train a bit and overate after not eating all day. I thought to help other from doing this and from me doing it again, I would share a few ways to prevent this from occurring. So enough rambling here are my ways of eating smarter...

Drink Water
By drinking water, I mean drink a TON of water. Don't just get one cup and be like, "Oh, I'm done." That is never how much you should be drinking. The average person should drink at least 6-8 cups of water a day. I try to aim for 8-10 as my personal goal for daily water intake. Also, don't drink too much water at one time. You need to intake the 6-8 cups over the whole day or it won't help. Water helps prevent sudden cravings and helps remind you that you are full.

Cut What You Order in Half
Whenever you eat out try to cut every thing you got in half. For example: you have 3 chicken tenders and a basket of fries. Take 1 1/2 pieces of chicken and half a basket of fries and throw it away or push it off to the side. Then eat what you can from what you have left. The reason behind doing this is because most restaurants and fast food places give you WAY over the actually amount of food you should be eating in one meal. They're proportioning food as if it were a Thanksgiving meal.

Eat 4-5 Small Meals a Day
This means instead of a huge breakfast, lunch, and dinner, try eating smaller proportioned foods every few hours. For example: you can eat at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. This helps your metabolism to keep running.

Plan Meals Ahead of Time
Plan meals before you make them or go pick them up. Don't scramble at the last minute and grab the fastest thing you can think of. The end results tend to never be healthy options. Try planning a day, or even a week ahead of time.

Never Go To The Grocery Store Hungry
This means exactly what I titled it. NEVER go to the grocery hungry. You will end up picking food with your stomach not with your brain. Your brain knows what you need and your stomach knows what you want. Please do NOT go to any food store hungry, or prepare to pick poorly.

Never Skip Breakfast
I know, I know... You have heard this one about a million times, but let's face it, this fact is beyond true. The reasons people say don't skip breakfast are because: A. It helps your brain and body kick start for the day. B. It will help you not overeat later & C. Breakfast food is THE best. Hehe. I know the last one was more a personal reason, but seriously who doesn't love a nice omelet with a fruit in the morning?

Exercise
You might be wondering, "What does exercise have to do with me eating?" It has a lot to do with your eating habits. When you exercise your brain releases endorphins that make you happy and feel good about yourself. This cause you to want to eat better and make smarter, healthier choices with food.

Never Try FAD Diets
Please don't 90% of these diets actually work with you feeling healthy still in the end.

Cut Out White Carbs
I'm not saying you have to completely eliminate white breads and white rice, but you need to cut out as much as you can.

Eat Plenty of Protein
Every meal should have some source of protein in it. Protein examples: eggs, chicken, steak, & fish. Protein helps build muscles, which in turn burns fat.

  2. Really great points. The one that helps me most is exercise, somehow it makes me want to eat better. Also if I don't eat well, then it's harder to jog/I get indigestion/nauseous so it's a great motivation.
